School work on my bed.

So, Hudson and I have been working on a Preschool workbook everyday, which he loves to do. He is usually asking me if we can do his school work right after breakfast, before the kids are even gone. Yesterday he came and told me he did his school work on his bed. Not knowing what he was talking about and being that I was preoccupied, I told him we would do his work a little later. This morning when I went in to strip the boys beds to do laundry, I noticed that some of the cars on Huddy's bed were circled. I cracked up! Hudson was standing right there and said "see, I did my school work". We have been doing a lot of circling in his work book...

Carving Pumpkins

The older kids always love carving pumpkins, but this time Hudson got into it...for a little while. He loved the idea but he was pretty annoyed at the fact that he wasn't going to get to use the knife. We gave him this little tool that came in the pumpkin carving kit and it was slightly sharp. He kept poking the back side of Jaxon pumpkin with it which annoyed Jaxon. Kenna was about in tears because when she got the top off of her pumpkin it was rotten inside...I agree, huge bummer, But so was daddies, so that made her feel better. =) No one really wanted to scrape out the rotten insides of a pumpkin so Jay and I did it. Of course Jay doesn't like to do it even when its not rotten, so you can imagine how much fun he was having with the nasty slime this time! I helped Hudson draw his face, but Jaxon & Kenna drew their own. Kenna chose to make teeth on her pumpkin to resemble her own teeth and gave hers a square nose just because everyone else was doing triangle noses (so creative). Jaxon's looks pretty much the same as last year. =) But the products turned out well. And they even have names. Kenna's is Fred & Jaxon's is Bob. (I don't know why).

When it was time to light the pumpkins (the best part) Hudson decided he didn't like his anymore cause it was on fire. From left to right: Bob & Fred

It was a great season!

It was really special for Jay & Jaxon both to have each other in football this year. Jay as the coach and Jaxon as the player (obviously). After the last game of the season the whole team headed to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Jay got up and presented plaques to the kids but what was SO neat was that he spent time, days before, reflecting on each kid and their assets to the team. He brought each kid up individually and praised them in front of everyone. He didn't just talk about their football skills but what character he saw in them that he appreciated. It was touching. As you can see, Jay got a little choked up when it came to Jaxon and some others. He really was hard on Jaxon this year. He didn't play him at Quarterback just because he was the coaches son...he made him earn his position like everyone else, which made the parents love Jay. Jaxon did work hard...like always. And again was recognized for his hard work, encouragement of his teammates & his amazing ability to pull flags! He played linebacker most consistently and LOVED it! Almost all of the parents asked if Jay would be coaching next year because they would really love to have their kids on his team again. I heard a numerous amount of times how much they loved Jay as a coach and that their kids had never had a coach as good and as encouraging as Jay. He would probably be embarrassed by me telling you this but it is a huge part of him that I love! He cares about character more than skill and he sees coaching as a little chance to encourage kids through sports & discipline. Way to go Jaxon & Coach Jay. Your family LOVED watching you both in action!
Nothing like ice cream with your buddies!

Who looks like Who?

I cant say I agree with the below relsults of "who looks like who", but it was fun! My meter says:

Jaxon resembles Jay by 90%
Kenna resembles Heather by 90%
Hudson resembles NO ONE
Tyson resembles Jay by 90%

Tell me what you think!

Who does Hudson look like?

Who does Kenna look like?

Who does Jaxon look like?

Who does Ty look like?

This ones for Jay!

Kenna & Avery thought it would be fun to dress the little boys up today...Need I say more? OK- I will ( I really cant help myself). We have had all of these "not macho man" encounters with Hudson lately and its freaking Jay out. So I just HAD to post this picture!

Leaf Bug

This was so cool! Jaxon came running in the house to tell me he almost stepped on a leaf bug. A what? I thought...so I headed outside. Sure enough there was this bug that looked like a leaf! We watched it for about 5 minutes. It just kind of walked around and then it pooped and flicked it off with one of his legs! That sent the boys rolling! Then it spread its 4 wings and flew away. Very interesting. I am in awe of the creator of all things. This bug is a perfect example of his creativity and detail. Amazing.

Pumpkin Patch

For the 3rd year in a row we went back to "The Berry Ranch" with a bunch of friends from church. The kids enjoyed the hay bale maze, the tractor ride & finding their pumpkin in a very lush pumpkin patch.

Family photo at the pumpkin patch.

Here we are getting ready to go on the hay ride. All the people you see here are the Moffatt's, Dykstra's, O'Hara's, Dayton's, Ruthie & Carris.

Jaxon found his pumpkin! Look at how tall the pumpkin patch was. Is that normal? It was a little creepy that we had to dig for our pumpkins. I think in past years we went so late in the season all the plants were dying and were trampled on. Ty & Riley had a hard time walking in in. They kept falling down...poor things.

Kenna sitting on her pumpkin, waiting for daddy to come rip it off the vine.

It was such a beautiful day!

This is the "big strong" pumpkin that Hudson found. He didn't get it, because there was a lady monitoring weather the kids could carry their own pumpkins or not. Some rule the patch has...Id say he couldn't carry this one, not even a chance!
Just your size little buddy!

Time for the big job...trying to get all these pumpkins to the car. What a good helper Ty is.

Here's Uncle David with children hanging on him...its the usual.

Here is Uncle David with all the kids. Eli & Acacia are especially enthused about getting their picture taken for the ump-teenth time!

Foundations Chili Feed

Every year the kids school does a Chili Feed to raise money for the Teachers holiday bonus. But this year because we are trying to get a new school building built, the teachers wanted the money raised for the school and not themselves. It was so fun because we actually had the carnival on the property were the school will be built, which is also right across the street from our subdivision! Yippeee! They are hoping to start building springtime 2008, in hopes of moving the students in mid school year 2008-09.

These are a few of Kenna's friends from school, Sarah & Grace. The first graders got up and sang "Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys." These 3 giggled the whole time while singing their hearts out!
Here's Kenna trying to rope the bull!

She won a liter of pop at one of the games. She was very proud of this achievement.

Jaxon...throwing something?

This is our property and here we all are waiting in line for chili! Good times!

Who needs toys?

I came out of the laundry room to find Ty marching to his own drum...or his own cymbals! Who needs toys when you can play with kitchen supplies?

Many son's

Jaxon came through the door yesterday after being at school and said

"Hello, Mother of many son's"

It just struck me funny.
