Playin with the boys

Its not very often I get to be with just the boys. Well, Thursday, Jay had a meeting and Kenna spent the night at friends so I took the boys to the park and we had a great time playing. We then came home to sit on the front porch swing and eat fudge bars, ride bikes & scooters and to then play basketball once daddy got home. I love seeing all my boys play together! Good times!

Jaxon-being Jaxon
Huddy told me about 20 times that he loved me while we were at the park...maybe we should go to the park more! =)

Gettin' air!

A slumber party for seven year olds

Kenna has been planning her birthday party since July 17th of 2007...it changed weekly but this is what we ended up with. A swim party, BBQ and sleepover. I had to limit the number of friends to 6 since she would most likely invite everyone she knows (I don't know who she gets this from). =) Here are some pictures from her fun day!
Here are the crazy girls in the pool!
BBQ by the pool
This is my attempt at baking and decorating a cake...I think I'll stick to decorating houses and buy the cake from the bakery!
I had to post this picture for all of you who have been praying for Kenna regarding her confidence in reading. Without anyone asking her to, she opened up the cards her friends had made her and read them out loud in front of everyone! I was SOOOOOOO proud of her and my eyes filled with tears! That was a HUGE step for her. Praise the Lord!
My bitty girl isn't so bitty anymore...sniff, sniff. We've been teasing her since she was three that we didn't want her to grow up anymore, that we wanted her to stay right where she was...now its just heart wrenching to watch her grow so fast!
Kenna picked out these extra long candles...Cooooooool
Grace, Bethany, Sarah, Avery & Emma all holding up the gifts they got Kenna.
I thought this was so cute! All these little sweeties lined up, popcorn in hand, watching a princess movie of some kind and fully enjoying themselves! It made me think of all the sleep overs that I was so excited to go to, to then call my parents at 11:00 at night cause I wanted to go home! None of these girls did that...I was impressed!
She LOVED every minute of her fun filled day and here's the grin to prove it!

Kenna is 7

Our little sweety heart turned 7 yesterday! Happy Birthday Kenna. You are the sweetest little girl in the world and you bring so much fun and joy to our family. You are such a wonderful sister to all you brothers and they adore you as do your dad and I. We are so excited that you have given your life to the Lord this last year. We pray that he would grow you into a woman after his own heart and that you would live your life to honor Him in every way. We love you Missy Moo!

I LOVE the 4th of July!

Only 18 days left until the 4th of July! I always look forward to this day...the sunshine, friends & family come, we swim, we eat BBQ, drink lemonade, we listen to patriotic music and other summertime songs, there's fireworks and sparklers! What more could a person want! The count down begins!

Another Shout Out for Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Dad! I love you and am always thankful to the Lord for allowing me to have a wonderful and God honoring daddy. I hope you have a wonderful day and I pray that the Lord would bless you for your faithfulness to Him and to your family. Wish we lived closer!

Happy Father's Day

Jay's Father's Day wishes:

  1. Church with the family
  2. Eat at Panda Express
  3. See Kung Fu Panda
  4. I see a Panda pattern going on!

We had a great day celebrating Jay as daddy. What a wonderful daddy you are honey!

We loved this movie! Here are the Hughes and their Kung Fu poses.
This is after the all you can eat candy and popcorn so Huddy and Ty are a little worn out. But then again, Huddy kind of looks that way in a lot of pictures. =)
I love this picture!

11 fabulous years!

I can hardly believe its been 11 years, but its for sure been the best 11 years of my life! Why wouldn't it be? I'm married to my best friend! Even though we have had some hard years the Lord has truly been faithful to bring us closer through those times. When I look back at who we were 11 years ago, I'm amazed at how much God has grown us...that I am thankful for!

For our anniversary we:

  • went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurant on Friday night(Cottonwood Grill)
  • saw Indiana Jones
  • had the whole Saturday to ourselves (thanks Carris & Brenda)
  • played tennis
  • went swimming
  • did some shopping
  • had dinner at another one of our favorites (Cheesecake Factory)
  • and did a lot of reminiscing! =) my favorite

Jay,

I love you with all my heart and I look forward to all the years the Lord will give us together. I wouldn't want to spend them with anyone but you. XOXOXOX

Love,

Total Athletes!

Jaxon and Kenna just got done with a three day basketball camp that was fantastic! It was put on by the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). The kids had a great time learning basketball skills but more importantly life skills. It was really cool how the head coach (Coach Brown) applied basketball to life... example: your follow through shot is like your word, you always follow through on what you said you would do. Jax and Kenna both came away with great life applications and I came away with an appreciation for these coaches who love kids and desire to see kids come to know Christ. They presented the gospel on the last day which was awesome! All 3 days they pressed into the kids minds that a "Total Athlete makes good choices on and off the court". What a great camp! The kids and I are already looking forward to next summers camp! I could totally see Jay doing this one day, in fact the head coach totally reminded me of Jay and the way he coaches kids.
Jaxon, Coach Brown & his favorite camper...Kenna! Coach liked her pink ball!
TRIPLE THREAT!
Kenna was one of the finalist in the slam dunk contest...mainly because she was the cutest and smallest camper there! Way to go Missy Moo! Jaxon was also one of the finalist so it was fun to see them both in the contest together!

Steve Nash in action!

He made this lay up! Way to go Jax....I LOVE watching my boy play!

We were sent home with some FCA info and I read this creed they have and wanted to share it with you all. Mainly because these are things that we constantly talk to the kids about in everything they do, but since we seem to be heading down the road of being a sports family I thought this was so fitting! I think Ive even talked Jaxon into memorizing it for his speech meet this fall. It spurred me on as a mom!

THE COMPETITORS CREED

(Fellowship of Christian Athletes)
I am a Christian first and last.I am created in the likeness of God Almighty to bring Him glory.I am a member of Team Jesus Christ.I wear the colors of the cross.
I am a Competitor now and forever.I am made to strive, to strain,to stretch and to succeed in the arena of competition.I am a Christian Competitor and as such, I face my challenger with the face of Christ.
I do not trust in myself.I do not boast in my abilities or believe in my own strength.I rely solely on the power of God.I compete for the pleasure of my Heavenly Father, the honor of Christ and the reputation of the Holy Spirit.
My attitude on and off the field is above reproach -my conduct beyond criticism.Whether I am preparing, practicing or playing;I submit to God's authority and those He has put over me.I respect my coaches, officials, teammates and competitors out of respect for the Lord.
My body is the temple of Jesus Christ.I protect it from within and without.Nothing enters my body that does not honor the Living God.My sweat is an offering to my Master. My soreness is a sacrifice to my Savior.
I give my all - all of the time.I do not give up. I do not give in.I do not give out. I am the Lord’s warrior -a competitor by conviction and a disciple of determination.I am confident beyond reason because my confidence lies in Christ. The results of my efforts must result in His glory.
LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN.LET THE GLORY BE GOD'S

Funny Story

Hudson and Ty have been fighting over the tricycle because its the only bike that fits them both. After making the boys take turns (again) I brought Huddy in the house to take a break.

"Huddy maybe we should get you a new bike for your birthday. Would you like that?" I asked

"Yes, I want a big one like Jaxon's" he said

Jaxon walks into the kitchen and Hudson turns to him and says:

"Mommy's gonna get me a new bike for my birthday, but don't tell me cause its a surprise!"

Jaxon looks at me and starts busting up!

"Shhhhhhh, don't tell me" Hudson says again!

I love 3 year olds!

Wallowa Lake

Last weekend was our annual group camping trip with the Moffatt's, Dykstra's, O'Hara's, Smiths, Whites and this year my parents joined us also! We had a great time despite the rain for most of the trip. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Group picture (25 all together- big group!)
Here are the campground divas!
Wallowa Lake is so beautiful!
April & Lyndsey huddled around the fire trying to stay dry!

Mamo helping Huddy with his smore

Here is Jay teaching Tim & John how to roast the perfect marshmallow. Jay was not very humble about his marshmallow roasting abilities! Here are all the kids at the dinky little put put golf course at the campground. It was fun to have something to do once the rain stopped...and then started again.
Jaxon, showing the grandparents how its done!

Ty and Hud going down the slide for the 1ooth time.
Grace & Kenna with the fish they caught at the lake with Papa Michael

Jaxon caught three!

Horseshoes was another favorite past time.
Ringer!
On the way home we stopped in the quaint town of Joseph Or for pizza and ice cream.
We took the scenic ride home through Hells Canyon....GORGEOUS!
It was a memorable trip!
