In 48 hours

The weekends always seem to fly by. Here are a few of the things we did:

This is one of Kenna's best friends, Gracie. She wrote and illustrated a story that she turned into a writing contest on the Reading Rainbow show. She won 1st place of all the 1st graders in Idaho. Kenna was so proud of her friend! We went to the library and heard Gracie read her story to everyone. She did a fabulous job! Way to go Gracie! We are so proud of you!

Our freshly poured concrete dried and I got to set up what I like to call my sunset chairs! Its were I want to sit in the evening and watch the sunset, but until now there was a big dumb rock in my way!

Ty learned to peddle the tricycle all on his own. Around & Around & around the pool he goes...until he runs into something or someone makes him get off!
Huddy had his last soccer game. There were treats & trophies for all 5 of them!
Daisy figured out how to get water from somewhere other than her bowl.
Daddy gave Ty one of the left over jerseys and he wore it all day long. He first hugged his daddy and said "tank too, tank too daddy" and then continued to show the rest of us his jersey all day long... "my toccer earsy" he would say.
Like I said above, we had some concrete poured. I was so determined to get our hand prints in the concrete that I let Jaxon stay home from school because we only had a window of 30 minutes or so! Priorities my friends! Its not every day you get to put your families prints in the concrete! Can you tell who's hands are who? There's a prize for the winner!
We also:
  • had a date night
  • watched one of the kids babysitters run in the district track meet (she qualified for state! Good job Steph!)
  • Ate at a new restaurant (didn't like it much)
  • Went for a long walk with the kids and dog
  • swam
  • went to church
  • I sang both services at church
  • Jay went for a motorcycle ride
  • put a shade screen up outside
  • watered plants
  • picked up the trailer from storage
  • went to Lowe's
  • BBQ-ed
  • Got everyone ready to have our family pictures taken which didn't work out so we hung out at the location and then got ice cream!

PHEW!

A boy and his dog

Can I just say that I love watching my little Ty Ty play with Daisy. I was so nervous about how horrible having a dog could be that I have been pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it has been! And Ty, in particular, has taken to her big time!

I caught Ty playing with her this morning and just had to take some pictures. Ty and Daisy will be pals for life! He loves on her, wrestles with her, runs around in the yard with her, tries to sit on her & bosses her around but Daisy loves every minute of it. I caught him pulling her ears out to the sides saying "fly A-D fly" (that;s what he calls her A-D, kind of like Katie with no K). It was funny and the whole time Daisy is just sitting there wagging her tail. I also find Ty in her kennel with her often. He lures her in there with a treat and then climbs in behind her and shuts the door. He thinks its great!

Heal!

This is just too funny NOT to share!

Ive been teaching Daisy (our dog) how to walk on a leash right next to me on my left side. Ive been doing this by giving her a little slack but when she tries to take over I yank her back. Now she has learned to watch me constantly. Her head is always looking back at me, looking back at me, looking back at me. She is doing fantastic, by the way, but that's besides the point.

So, today I went to Target (stay with me now) and I'm getting the boys out of the car and since I cant carry both of them Ive been teaching Hudson how to stay close to me by hanging on to my pants pocket. Well, he has really wanted to start being a "bigger boy" now which means he wants to walk in the parking lot without holding onto my hand. I wasn't to excited about this because I would hate for him to dart off and get hit by a car...what kind of mother would I be? But today, he proved me wrong. He ponied up onto my left side and walked right in the same spot that Ive been teaching Daisy to walk! It was HILARIOUS because like the dog he kept turning his head every few steps to make sure he was right next to me! I totally laughed out loud and said "GOOD DOG!" It was the funniest thing! Do I have these kids trained or what?!!

Blooming

So-its been a while since Ive posted anything, mainly because Ive been outside more, due to the beautiful weather we have been having lately, which means I'm not sitting at my computer as often. Probably a good thing =).

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this time of year and these are my reasons:

  • The crisp air in the mornings
  • The sun warming me through out the day
  • The kids play better together since they can get out and run around in stead of being on top of one another
  • My skin turns golden (after looking ill all winter having a little color makes me "feel" healthy)
  • The spring blossoms on the pear and cherry tree's in our yard
  • The smell of the lawn being cut
  • The sound of the sprinklers going
  • Sitting on my front porch reading a magazine listening to the birds chirp
  • Swinging on the front porch swing with my kids
  • Planting, planting and planting (I haven't loved this in the past but this year I fully enjoyed every little flower planted)
  • Uncovering the outdoor furniture and getting it ready for the season
  • Eating outside next to the fountain that we just figured out how to turn down so it doesn't sound like Niagara falls (3 years we've had that thing and when the landscape guy showed us what to do last week I called myself an idiot!Who would have thought that the big red nob did anything? )
  • Walks with the family in the evenings
  • Sun sets in the back yard
  • BBQ
  • Corn on the cob
  • Swimming with the kids (we just opened the pool this week!)
  • Camping
  • It means the 4th of July is coming (my favorite party to plan)
  • Having friends and family over more
  • And last but not least-the end of the school year. I so look forward to having Jaxon back home. And as much as I will feel the need for structure come September I SO feel the need to throw it all to the wind come May! Its time to play and have fun together!

As I was busy outside this week oiling the outdoor furniture I started thinking about this time of year and how I "feel" better and why that is. I often feel like a flower this time of year. I come out of my hiding place to soak up the sun and feel vibrant again. Isn't God good to allow seasons in our lives? Actual weather seasons but also for the different seasons in life. I think He is. He always knows just what I need. But as much as I feel stronger and healthier when I'm soaking up the sunshine I cant help but be reminded that my Savior is just that for me each and everyday...SONSHINE! No matter what the weather(storms in my life) or season (long drawn out trials) Jesus is there to be strong when I am week to be healthy when I am sick and I praise him for that this day!

What are your favorite things about this time of year? Share them with me, Id love to hear them!
