White Country!

Instead of making at trip to the Berry Patch (a pumpkin patch we have gone to the last 4 years) We decided to change things up a little. Michael & Ruthie White invited us over to be a part of their first pumpkin patch pickings with all of their grand kids. They planted a huge garden with all sorts of produce! The kids got to pull carrots & onions out of the ground, they picked corn, peppers, squash and pumpkins! It was obvious that my kids were not accustom to pulling food out of the ground and actually eating it, but they thought pulling it was fun! Michael gave me dried corn stalks for my front porch and the kids all picked their own pumpkins out to put on the porch too!

Who new an onion had such a cute white pom pom flower on top!
Huddy swinging under the big trees!
Here's where the corn stalks came from!
Carrot!
Jaxon found this tiny little watermelon that didn't quite grow like the rest.
What kid doesn't love climbing trees?
Here's Kenna learning that if the corn is ready to eat you will usually find a worm in the top of the corn husk........She was NOT thrilled about this!
Jax picking corn.
Michael had all the kids pick a number out of the basket to see who got to go in what order to pick their pumpkins. Here they are all lined up.
Kenna picking up her prized pumpkin!

Jaxon searching far and wide for the perfect pumpkin.
Its Huddy's turn....any thoughts on which one he will pick?.....
That's right folks....the GREEN one! And there was NO convincing him otherwise...but it was funny to see Michael try and convince him to pick an orange one.
Here they are...all13 kids...9 of them are the Whites grand kids...we just get to tag along...not like they really need anymore kids around! =)
It was a fun day! Thanks Michael and Ruthie for letting us join in on the fun!

Every parent needs a "green pumpkin kid" just to keep it interesting.
